The extended (or contingent) workforce are the people in your company that work for you but are not actually your employees. The concept of Employee Engagement has been around since the 1990s and is being severely challenged. It’s becoming more and more difficult, to keep one’s finger on the pulse for every employee. By now it’s considered to be a normal feature for companies to be working with remotes, temporary workers, interns and freelancers (the so-called contingent workforce). So how can you keep track of their engagement within the company, when they are not really within the company?

  1. Facilitate easy on-boarding

    When you’re hiring new people to join your company under the form of an extended worker, a proper on-boarding will be even more key than in the traditional working format. You need to find fast, effective ways to get those contingent workers up to speed with the values of the organisation and overall integrate them into the right team, without losing too much time.
